Combining
his passion for travel and the art of photography, Alfredo Maiquez explores
Latin America in search of images that show the grandeur of its spaces, its
jungles’ biodiversity and the variety of its people.
His works currently appear in several Spanish, US, and Latin American publications,
such as The Los Angeles Times, AGENDA, GEOMUNDO, AVIANCA, AMERICAS magazine
of the OAS and GATOPARDO, he also does works for Photostocks in Australia and
the United States, his photographs continuously appear in the popular LONELY
PLANET travel guides and institutions such as SMITHSONIAN and AUDUBON, he has
published photo books, among them PANAMA THE COUNTRY, CATALOGO DE PIEZAS ARQUEOLOGICAS
MUSEO REINA TORRES DE ARAUZ, PANAMA FINANCIERO and is currently working on
two more about the architecture of Panama City. He also has photographs in
the permanent collection of the Panama Canal Museum. His images serve to promote
Panama’s tourism image throughout the world.
He has also photographed for the Tourism Institutes of Argentina, Cuba, Colombia,
Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic,
Peru, Honduras.
Alfredo Maiquez continues to travel to numerous Latin American destinations,
looking for subjects, combining art and journalism and crafting his unique
and personal images with masterful control of light and color.
